Subject: feelings of danger..could it be a ghost?

For 10 months I've been living in a row home along the Brandywine River in Modena, Pennsylvania close to Lancaster(it's an older house, but don't know how old). From the first time we moved in I had this cold, creepy feeling especially downstairs in this two-story-row-home. A few times I fell asleep on the couch while watching tv and each time I woke up either completely freaked out and scared or had bad nightmares. If I sleep upstairs in the bedroom I never have any problems. I do hear suddle noises and allthough the noises seem to be close by directly in livingroom or kitchen, I dismissed it for a long time thinking it came from the neighbors house. There is a permanent stench in this house and even though I leave windows and doors open and cleaned from top to bottom, I could not get rid of it. I can't really decribe the smell, I usually compare it to the smell like in a crypt (moldy stench). I haven't felt very good mentally and healthwise and I'm starting to really wonder if this has to do with paranormal activity. Something like this never really happened to me before. I forgot to mention I also have sometimes extreme fear and anxiety. Can anyone help??
I feel harmed in a way.
