As I write this to you, I must say that I can only speak for myself. However, I do encourage other PGHA members to respond to this message on their own behalf.
If there is one thing that I have learned from our research, it is that I have nothing to fear while on an investigation. I have had no evidence suggesting that ghosts are out to hurt me or that they are evil. The biggest and most common mistake made when addressing ghostly phenomena is to fail to personify the spirits that are present. It does take time to get used to thinking in this mode, I will admit. But, once you realize that ghosts are all that we are with the exception of having a physical body, you can stay in a dark and cumbersome location for hours without feeling threatened in any way. Based on the few interactions that members have had, I suspect that the ghosts are just as curious about us being in a location as we are of them.
Unfortunately, the way someone relates to spirit phenomena is a learned response. Most of the information people have learned comes from TV and movies, which is just a bunch of hype. Nonetheless, such info provokes a person to negatively respond (fear) and is accountable for why spirit phenomena is often viewed as a nuissance or threatening.
