When I was young I cleaned carpets and furniture and was in the area you mentioned. The old home sat on germantown ave,It was stone as I remember. It has been maney years ago that this happened to me,so bare this in mind. There was a long hallway as I remember with a living room on one side and a dinning room on the other.large mirrors from the ground to the ceiling on either side of the hallway.the "lady" of the house was young and kind, but I felt a sort of sadness in her.there were three dogs-(all muts)as I remember-who sat at the base of two steps that led to a back room which was like a study.I was to clean a sofa in there.right from the start I knew something was"t right!I had"nt been in there but a few minutes when without warning, the dogs suddenly looked nerviously down the hall at something then all jumped up and started chasing that unseen"something down the hall, and in and out of the liv/din rooms, sliding on the hard wood floors as they went. Then -just as fast- they would again sit at the bottom of the steps!!!Well,as a freind wonse said to me,it was time for my "feetsto get walking"I never cleaned a sofa so fast in my life!never said a word to the ouner, and stole quickly into the night!!!!!!!!
