First, let me say, that as a true believer, any episode of Scariest Places I have seen has an all to familiar ring too it. If you were unfortunate enough to have paid good money to see Blair Witch Project, you'll know what I mean. Granted we, as viewers, are teased with the odd slamming door or object flying across the room but please... these are quite possibly nothing more than special effects, scarcely above the rather archaic quality of the original Star Trek episodes (ie: styrofoam rocks and the wires on the ship model). The acting is of about the same level. This show could do a lot better starring William Shatner and let's put LucasFilm in charge of the effects. Might be a little more believable then.

Speaking as one who has had paranormal experiences, this show is, as another person has previously mentioned, a sad attempt at one in a long line of "reality television" shows; all of which have proven sadly disappointing. I have watched and read a lot of true to life accounts of hauntings and like activity and, my apologies to the producers but, this program is nothing more than a desperate ratings grab and even they will fade as more and more viewers realize the difference between reality and "reality tv".

For anyone who wants to experience the paranormal or view a program based on actual experiences, might I suggest TLC or Discovery. There have been various programs on both these channels that deal with real hauntings, possessions and other like phenomena. These programs don't use special effects or no name families to exploit what might be an ancient legend. We, as viewers, are thankfully spared the screams of "MOMMY! MOMMY!" and such cheap parlor tricks as chairs sliding across the room. As to the person who responded that someone else who commented that they should not have children if that's the way they would react to a child so terrified, if I might speak on behalf of the person who originally commented on these people screaming on camera for their parents, uncles or what have you... I believe this person was commenting on the fact that it is distracting and yes, annoying to anyone who might look to this show for it's entertainment level.

If you like hearing people scream at the top of their lungs for no apparrent reason, I'll introduce you to my neighbors. I would hope that, the producers of Scariest Places will soon realize the folly of their endeavours with this program and either change the format to a more educational aspect or drop the show altogether. PSI Factor and X-Files have more believability to them and beyond the fact that we know the people in these shows, and others like them, are professional actors, they are far more anchored in fact (particularly PSI Factor which is based on actual happenings) than Scariest Places can ever hope to be with their current lackluster low grade technology and performances.

A couple of last comments... what's with the Scottish fellow that leads these people around the various castles, abandoned churches and all? Do you not think that while the group of participants is seated at the table, watching the tape of this guy telling them what they'll be doing next, the rest of the crew might be setting up the next batch of scare tactics for the group to experience? Lastly, I may be the only one to have noticed this but why does it seem that no matter how freaked out the participants are in the program, the camera operators do not seem the slightest bit phased by the noises, the flying objects and the sights of whatever it may be that scares these people half to death? Food for thought?
