The American Queen Pageant Awards Structure

There will be a "top 10" chosen from each age division. There will be 4 runners-up in each division in addition to the National Title Holder. The runners up and the title winner in each division will be announced directly from the top 10 contestants rather than narrowing down the field to top 5. We feel that doing it this way will enhance the anticipation and the excitement of the production. In addition, we feel that this format will allow the first runner up her due attention and 'moment in the spotlight'. The traditional way of narrowing the field all the way down to 2 (the first runner up and the winner) does not allow the attention due to the first runner up. Rather, the first runner up is pushed aside for attention to the winner only.
In addition to the top 10 and runners-up and title holder positions in each age division there will also be special awards in each division. Participation in these areas are optional, not mandatory for participation in the pageant. However, there is no additional fee associated with participation in these optional awards. These include, but are not limited to:

"Scrapbook Award": A scrapbook is to be created by each contestant documenting their year as their state American Queen titleholder and thus encouraging them to become involved in community service and involvement, therefore getting out into the community and creating positive change in their community through volunteerism and public appearances.
"Style Award": An award in each age division rewarding the contestant's commitment to personal style with an emphasis on good grooming and polished appearance.
"Smile Award": An award in each age division rewarding the contestant's commitment to dental hygiene and positive attitude reflected by a healthy and sincere smile.
"Beautiful Hair Award": An award in each age division rewarding the contestant's commitment to healthy, well groomed hair and style.
"Beautiful Skin Award": An award in each age division rewarding the contestant's commitment to age-appropriate skin care.
"Beautiful Eyes Award": An award in each age division focusing on beautiful, expressive eyes.
"Essay Award": An award in each age division for the most creative and heartfelt answer (in essay form) to the question: "Why America Needs A Queen".
"Swimsuit/Aerobic Wear/Sportswear Award": An age-appropriate award in each division with emphasis on physical fitness and healthy lifestyle.
"Evening Wear Award": An award in each age division with emphasis on poise, stage-presence and grace.
"Interview Award": An award in each age division with emphasis on personal communication skills and a sincere, approachable quality worthy of an American Queen titleholder.
"Photogenic Award": An award in each age division based on the contestant's ability to communicate with the camera to portray a beautiful, approachable quality worthy of an American Queen titleholder.
