Can you tell me how one can obtain a good heart condition when God's holy Word tells us that before God brings us to new life in Christ, we are dead in our sins and are at enmity with God?
As I told another poster here, salvation is not obtained by any act of our own will, as our will is not free, but bound by our own hearts, which are desperately wicked until God removes them and replaces them with hearts of flesh, circumcised by Him. Once this takes place, we become aware of the enormity of our sin, we fear God, and we cry out to Him to save us, which we can be sure He will do because His Word promises that He will.
Further, the Bible does not tell us to accept the Lord Jesus Christ; it tells us that God accepts us in the Lord Jesus Christ--the Beloved. And if you choose to point to the verse in Revelation 3 that tells us the Lord is standing at the door and knocking, waiting for us to open the door, let me remind you that this message was not to individual non-believers, but a particular, lukewarm group of believers.
Finally, the doctrine of a rapture occurring at a time prior to the Lord's return was invented and developed by various Jesuit priests as part of the Roman church's Counter-Reformation efforts of the 16th and 17th centuries. In John 6, Jesus tells us that he will raise up those who are His at the last day. This would be the same event as the dead in Christ rising before those who are alive and remain meet them in the air, as Christ is descending to the earth. Otherwise, how many Second Comings will there be? And, since Christ warns His disciples in Matthew 24 not to let any man deceive them during that great tribulation (adding "Behold, I have told you before") it is clear that believers will be still here when this tribulation period begins.
May God be glorified in all things.
