I'm saying that I couldn't in my dead state ask Jesus into my life any more than Lazarus could have asked Jesus to raise him from the dead. Being born again is about being born from above, and it has nothing to do with what I do or don't do.

Faith without works IS dead because faith that does not manifest itself in a changed life is merely intellectual assent and not a total giving over to God one's life. However, the works here, although called MY works, are only mine as a gift from God--they do not originate with me. Therefore, the glory truly goes to God for these works, and they are His.

Indeed we apply this salvation to our lives every day, but this doesn't mean we work to keep it, or the promise that He is able to save us to the uttermost would be a lie. We nourish our new life in Christ, as a baby needs to be nourished. But while our physical life would end if we stopped eating, our spiritual life is held up by the will of God, and, properly understood, this should cause us to tremble with humility rather than boast with arrogance.

If we are truly born again of the Spirit of God, we will want nothing else than to follow His Word. Are we born anew or not?

Of course not. I never implied or stated this. If we do we make a mockery of the cross.

He said KEEP them, which is to guard or protect them. And as I said before, we will desire to follow Him if we are born anew.
