i got my domain from www.freenetname.co.uk the way it works is that you sign up and activate the domain and you have to log in once every 60 days (i think it is 60) to keep it active and you also have to use the freenetname connection when FTPing to their server. Their server is reliable as far as i know. our files our stored onwww.stas.net freewebspace provider and it is shit!
the logging in for freenetname i mentioned, it is a 'free' ISP like freeserve i.e 1p or 2p a minute. but i think that a few pence every time you log in and want to update is a price worth paying. jsut make sure you log in often (i.e much mroe often 60 days cos you'll forget otherwise) otherwise you lose your account if inactive for more than 60 days and your domain goes with it.
on the other hand there are loads of places where you can get a .co.uk for about 50p or £1 a year. look around search engines. try www.uk2.net
hope that helps
luke
