I'm surprised that insurance companies refer these types of companies. Have you called your insurance company about these guys. First off if you had shopped around for a contractor you should have went with one that gave you a roof with a written workmanship warranty that states they take responsibility for all this for a specific period of time.

Contractors are required by law to be licensed and regulated by their State's License Board which has jurisdiction to investigate complaints against contractors if a complaint is filed within three years of the date of the alleged violation. In Washington it is Labor & Industries. On my homepage to this site you can scroll to the bottom and find a link to the Labor & Industry's Website.

I real feel for you because you have received a bad installation from your contractor on your house and you can't have it undone. I'm sure you wish you could go back to the day you signed the contract and take it all back and go with someone else. Thinking of what you are going through upsets me because I have seen other people go through it with some other contractor after turning me down for the job (usually due to price) then they call me three months later crying for help. I'm mad and upset that I have to bid against these vandals for jobs.

You should also contact their insurance company to discuss opening a claim against them for any damages to your house that they don't cover. I'm sorry but there isn't a court in the world that will give you a whole new roof. Someone can legally install a roof on your house and if they give you no workmanship warranty it can leak one year later and you can't touch them. If they do something blatantly in error you might have a case against them but you will need to convince the court of specific installation errors to hold them accountable for. This has to be documented in some way to the court. You just can't say its leaking without a Workmanship Warranty and have a case against them. Workmanship Warranties could also be considered a performance warranty.

Basically you will have to learn more about what was done wrong on your house so you can state it better for those who you will complain to other then the fact that its leaking. Leaks have specific causes and specific places where the water is coming from and you need to know these to have a case against them. They need to know this just for them to do any repairs. When the guy came and did some repairs what did he say he did to stop the leak? Stand write there in front of him and as he says it write it down. Let him know you are documenting what he is saying the problem is. He's probably a low class nobody and will just take off and let you take him to court. I hate companies that have no self respect or shame. They should be truly sorry for this kind of work and it should be more then words!

I'm sorry I don't really have any specific course of action that will instill the accountability of your contractor to you that you are seeking and deserve.
