Subject: cleaning and maintaining a wood shingle roof

two years ago I had a new wood shingle roof installed...and I liked the way it looked when it was new. What are the recommendations for cleaning and preserving a red cedar roof? I imagine that power washing is an option and want to make sure that an appropriate preservative is applied..thanks
