Subject: drip edge

can a drip edge be installed over rotted wood or is it best to replace the wood (under the shingles of a sloped roof)first?

PLEASE DON'T SPAM THE FORUM. ONE POST ASKING THESE QUESTIONS WOULD HAVE BEEN SUFFICIENT. I WAS JUST GOING TO DELETE THESE AND ASK YOU TO POST AGAIN BUT THEN I THOUGHT THAT AT LEAST THIS COULD BE USED AS A BAD EXAMPLE OF FORUM POSTING.

Going by your other posts I'll give this response. It seems you don't need a roof. The rot will stop if you can keep it from getting wet. If the starter metal will divert the water off the roof deck into the gutter you might as well wait to repair the roof deck when you replace the roof. I have not seen what is going on so I kinda wish you might have let me in on what your contractor is commenting. If you have a wet spot in the ceiling of the house and also have an overhang YOU DEFINITELY NEED SOME ROOF REPAIRS.
