No worries, papering in a house is also called drying it in. We are a company in the Seattle area and we roof all year round. Rain doesn't hurt the paper at all. Many times builders want a part of the house dried in before its even ready to roof so the paper ends up on the roof for three weeks before it is even roofed over. Sounds like standard practice to me.

although rain will not get through the tar paper, if it sits in the rain for to long it will start to bubble and if you are getting your roof done it will hold the shingles up in some areas.
