We always coil nail our roofs on. Roofing manufacturer's recommend that products are installed with nails. Staples can be used also but as with all fasteners you want to make sure they are installed flush and not counter-sunk. Here in the Northwest many contractors used staples in the 80s but as it seemed to show a greater tendency to have materials blow off a roof it has become standard practice around here to have the products fastened with nails. For over a decade all we've been doing is using nails. Make sure to ask how they are installing your product and it would probably be a good idea to have them put it in writing as well as the rest of the procedures the are using.

Hope this helps,
Tim Soth / A Roofer
