First of all, Captain Hayes and I settled on this one days ago, and there seems little point in bringing up who did what again.
Secondly, I have never said that ISDs or ISD II are 'giant floating targets' and there seems little point in bringing up what other people say in a debate with me.
Thirdly, if you check back through my posts over the years (yes I have been doing this debate for years), you will find that if the question is whether the Empire could defeat the Federation in a straight up fight, I ALWAYS say the Empire would win. Why, because as you say, the Empire has vastly more ships, that can all travel much faster than Federation ships. This gives them an enourmous strategic advantage. Trek ships (by virtue or warp) have great tactical advatages, but that will avail them little if they get back from trashing Imperial ships, to find their planet's smoking ruins.
I am not a trek fanatic, but I also don't subscribe the to views that anything from star wars is automatically superior to Trek, or that a Trek ship is automatically defeated, simply because an ISD has big guns.

I'm not quite sure what this is revelant to? However, the example is flawed. If you look an many historical battles, from El-Alamein to the Gulf war, armys often choose to go through minefields, BECAUSE the enemy is expecting them to attack the clear points.
