The NDF (nuclear disruption force)is quite effective against organic matter. But as point out earlier (quite well I might add) Blasters can do all those things and the military issue weapons of the armored forces of Empire also have advanced targeting systems. Phasers do seem to have problems with dense matter yeah I saw Worf open up a cavern with hie phaser on full power wasn't impressed, compared to the famous Solo shoot out at Docking Bay 94. Oh and remember in ST: Insurection when it took two Assult phaser rifles and Picards hand phaser to open up a cave. If phasers are so powerful then a mere Type 2 phaser should have been enough to do the job, right? Yeah well anyway most of the time they do the same thing as blasters make a big shower of sparks on the wall, just like blasters, except blasters on also make pits and craters in walls most of the time.
