But under the city-sprawls that made up the surface of the Death Star was some really tough armor and the Death Star had Deflection Towers (Planetary Shield Generators)which are the cornerstone of planetary defenses. The fact was they were designed to be Battle Stations, Moble Siege platforms that could overwhelm the Defenses of planets with Citadel class shield ratings. She could have survived several direct hits from her own Composite Superlaser because she was equiped with Citadel class shields. The flaw with defenses on that scale is tiny Snub fighters can fly through relatively small gaps in thoughs shields, but to small to make a difference with anti-planet assault weapons. My point is this any weapon that can destroy an unshielded planet ain't gonna cut it. Remember the Shield generator on the moon of Endor that was the kind of Shield the Death Star would have had if she had been completed(just in case you need an example of what I mean). The only real weakness was the thermal exhaust ports which was elminated in the second design. it may be hard to except but the Death Star was second only to the Force as the ultimate power. We have to be fair and honest about this. We don't know the limit of the Species 8472 firepower. All I'm saying is just being able to destroy a planet by itself would not acomplish the task of destroying, or even causing damage to the Death Star.
