Well....the stuff you say is right. ESPECIALLY the mis-guided priorities. However, Rayray, you're talking about those who grew up in poverty. Not middle class, but grew up poor. Also remember, that some of the FREE education for minorities is absolutely terrible...and the non-minorities going to those schools are recieving the same terrible education.

And are you sure the majority of people that are living with 6+ kids in a small housing project apartment are on welfare? I know quite a few people who house at least fourteen people in a 3 bedroom apartment....and yes, sometimes they have their priorties mixed up with them jordans and expensive clothes. But, mind you, they are NOT on welfare. They may recieve free lunch at school that, I suppose, can be considered welfare. And this school they go to is considered, by statistics, to be one of the best schools east of the Mississippi. Although I agree entirely that people have to get their priorities straight.

I do, disagree, however, at how easy it would be to have no poor people in this country. The people that are homeless, for instance, are usually those stereotypical "drunken bums". Now, let me see here...DRUNKen bums...they are alcoholics. Many of the homeless shelters have rules, and one rule being NO ALCOHOL. So the alcohol puts them out onto the street when they try to be sheltered and get a job, etc. And alcohol is no cheap thing to get rid of. Rehab doesn't do it. It has to be will, number one, and a LOT of therapy. I attend AA meetings on a regular basis (as well as other drug abuse meetings), and I see that people who are living with a huge salary, drive nice cars (reasonable price, however), have a nice practical house, and all the luxury items such as heat electricity air conditioning and a pool in their backyard...can have everything ruined by alcohol. So, if many of those people can't do it..how do you expect a poor person, or a bum to do it?

I mean, I suppose you will ask "how did the bum become homeless"? well i guess that's a good point. Remember, there are many people born into poverty, and it's EASIER SAID THAN DONE to have a goal and acheive it. Especially with the situations they are living in...imagine the people who are poor and go to school to get an education and they work 3 jobs to help pay the bills. And then just because of who their family is, or where they are from, trouble awaits them around the next hallway corner. It's alot easier said than done.

I agree, the people living in the homes of "MTV Cribs" and such...should be more practical etc. That would really help...but even if they did that, what would that do? If they donate to charity, it's similar to a welfare check. So I don't see how the un-practical life of these wealthy people would ruin it for the poor people.

Well, it's hard to explain what i'm talking about sorry
