Interesting observations. However, I have no idea why that is so.
I suppose it is the whole Innocence Vs. Evil.
Even while many Catholics believe that the baby is born with sin and must be cleansed, the anti-abortion (but pro-capital punishment) people believe the baby is completly innocent and deserves to be given life due to that fact. They do not mind the evil, guilty people being completely removed from society by killing them, because those people are "bad."
They believe the military fights for a good cause, and is trying to remove the "badguys." They don't mind hunting because the deer are "over-populated" (even though humans seem to be growing even faster) and hunting those rascals digging holes in your lawn are okay. That's just my insight, don't get me wrong...nothing about facts here. Just my guess.
