How aware is the average German with WW-I? Over here in the U.S. the knowledge of WW-I is so paltry and pathetic that it is a wonder as many people know about the war as do. They teach next to nothing about the war. Is this the case in Germany? The tourists may neither know nor care about the war just like so many over here.
And what's really galling about that? I think WW-I was the pivotal event in modern history. The very world we know and live in got its start in WW-I. Every war since then, including the colonial wars, has its genesis in the events put in motion by WW-I. And over here 999 out of every 1,000 people don't know and don't care.
