Author: A disappointed Miss World fan
Subject: Miss World is rigged (tricked)!!! Please read my comments!!!

Hello to all fans,
I hope you're fine. I am writing this letter in the hope that the Miss World Organization gets the opportunity to read it and eventually realize how their pageant is not at all liked by many people and that it is losing its popularity.

What you will read below is solely my personal opinion and I am not stating anything as being true but on the contrary, I hope I am wrong about the Miss World pageant. So, here they go my comments.

I think Miss World is rigged (tricked). Every year, I know right from the start who the winner will be, except in 1998 when I was like paralyzed with shock when Israel won.
I found Linor Abargil really stupid and during her Top 10 interview, she didn't say anything that could make her stand out from the rest of the semi-finalists.
But, when I heard later that she had been raped, I felt sorry for her and I was glad she won. After all, it was a fair victory for her.

However, I will always think that Miss World is tricked. I think during the preliminary interviews, the judges pick the one delegate whom they know can speak fluent English and who is quite good-looking and quite tall too. And since the same judges decide on the final night, it is so obvious that they will stick to their favourite delegate. Once a delegate catches your attention, you will definitely favour her come what may.

I find this really dull to have the same preliminary judges decide on the final pageant's night. Miss World Org should appreciate to adopt the way Miss Universe goes by. They have different preliminary judges and different judges on the final night's show.

Miss Universe is the best pageant I've seen so far. I like it when they show the delegates' scores in swimsuit and evening gown. And long ago, when they still had their Top 10 interview, we fans, knew when a delegate spoke well and when she said craps. At Miss Universe, even favourites can lose if they don't answer well for the final question, except for Miss Universe 2001 when it was too obvious that Puerto Rico won because of her homeland superiority.
But as for other Miss Universe contests, I have nothing to argue against. They were fair and not tricked, at least, that's how I feel about them.

Coming back to Miss World, in 1997, after the Top 5 were announced, on what criterions did the judges decide who was worth of becoming Miss World? The girls (Miss Turkey, Miss Thailand, Miss New Zealand, Miss India and Miss South Africa) just paraded like puppets and then, Miss World was announced without any interview or anything. I think you must all agree with me. I knew Diana Hayden would win. If she had been chosen from the Top 10, I would have found it fair that she wins cause she did speak well.

In 1998, how did the judges think Miss Israel could be the best Miss World? Either they were idiots or the pageant was fixed. If the judges really took into account the answers of the other semi-finalists, then, either Miss South Africa or Miss USA or Miss Brazil or Miss Jamaica or anyone could win, anyone except Miss Israel. What did the judges find in her stupid answers? So once again, you must all agree that the pageant seemed to have been fixed.

As for Miss World 99, it was so obvious that Miss India (who looks like a turtle), Yukta Mukhey, was given preferences. Did you notice that the co-host (I forgot her name but she definitely looked like a bitch) asked Yukta 3 questions while the rest of the semi-finalists were asked only 2. Miss Liberia was asked only ONE question. She (Sebah Tubman) really won my appreciation when she said 'Some people think I'm beautiful, some people think I'm not but to me I am beautiful because God makes everybody beautiful'.

When Yukta Mukhey said that she admired Audrey Hepburn for her aura, did you notice how that bitch of co-host said, she even yelled: GOOD CHOICE.
She shouldn't have said that.
Anyway, again I knew that Yukta would win. I would like to point that she was not the favourite but the one and ONLY delegate who was given preferences.

And please, don't talk about Miss World 2000 with me . I think all of my hair starts falling when I see Priyanka Chopra. She was so dull and stupid when borrowing Lara Dutta's answers (remember Lara said Miss Universe is a platform, Priyanka said Miss World is a platform).
Priyanka had a so obvious over-rehearsed trait and I don't know why the judges chose to give India the crown again. Priyanka clearly didn't deserve the crown.
I think Jerry Springer didn't like her too and I think he is right for not liking such a hypocrite. If Miss World ORG wanted a Miss who could speak good English, they could well have chosen Miss USA or Miss South Africa, Heather Hamilton, (who unluckily was not in the Top 10).

Miss World 2001 was again deceiving. I knew right from the start that Miss Nigeria would win. And she didn't impress me with her Top 5 interview.
What I hated in the pageant was the clear evidence that preference was given to Miss China since that country was at its first participation. Even though her Top 10 answers really sucked (they were so disgraceful of a semi-finalist), I knew though that she would be in the Top 5 and I also knew she wouldn't be a runner-up since it would have been too obvious that Miss World is tricked had Miss China been a runner-up.

I think Miss Scotland or Miss Ukraine or Miss South Africa should have won but not Miss Nigeria. I have nothing against Agbani. She is cute and smart but she didn't impress me at all with her participation.

I think Miss Universe is far more better than Miss World. When the winner is crowned, most of the time, we have the feeling that: Yeah, she deserved it! (Like the year Mpule and Lara Dutta won).

Anyway, this is where my comments end. I never thought it would be that long but I hope it hasn't been tedious for you to read. I hope you've enjoyed my comments and feel free to reply no matter what your stance is with respect to Miss World. You may disagree with me and I will surely understand. I just hope the Miss World Org changes its system and adopts one where the winner, when she is announced, makes her appear to be worthy of the crown.

OK, bye.

From a no more Miss World fan.

P.S. I didn’t watch Miss World 2001 at one go because it was so boring. I went to have shower, came back, went to have dinner and spoke over the phone. I just noticed what was happening but I wasn’t really into the pageant.

[> I agree with the fact that you consider Miss Wolrd boring and/or that you think everything is unpredictable and sometimes unfair. But as long as we have a pageant that looks for inner beauty (a value that is TOTALLY subjective) we will always look at akward, at the begginning, results. That is all I have to say. -- Many people ==== Many opinions, 03:18:00 07/17/02 Wed

[> I find your post confussing. You say the pageant is rigged because the judges pick out a girl who they like and vote her through to the finish. Isn't that what they're supposed to do? -- Tiki Java, 07:17:25 07/19/02 Fri
