MISS COLOMBIA TAKES WINS THE MISS ANTILLES 2003 CROWN

La edicion del aņo 2003 del concurso de Belleza Miss Antillas Internacional se efectuo en el Ateneo de Rio Chico (Venezuela) el 18 de Octubre.

La ganadora fue Miss Colombia,Maria Alejandra Gonzalez Oviedo,una Belleza de 5'10" quien acedio a la competencia con su extraordinaria presencia. dirijida por Peter Ponce.

Despues de una breve presentacion en traje tipico,traje de baņo y traje de gala, las 10 semifinalistas fueron llamadas al escenario ellas fueron las delegadas de:Honduras,Cayman Islands,Anguilla,Barbados,Brazil,Colombia, Northern Marianas,Dominican Republic Puerto Rico y Venezuela . estas candidatas presentaron su seccion de entrevistas y entonces 6 fueron llamadas al escenario ellas fueron:
Honduras,Cayman Islands,Brazil,Northern Marianas Islands,Colombia y Miss Republica Dominicana

Ellas fueron entonces entrevistadas una por una como en (Miss Universo) luego la ganadora del aņo pasado Guanchez de Mexico hablo acerca de su aņo como Miss Antilles 2002, la ganadora y sus finalistas fueron llamadas 3rd runner-up, Brazil; 2nd runner-up, Northern Marianas Islands; 1st runner-up, Dominican Republic; and the winner of this year's event, Miss Colombia, quien aparece visiblemente feliz. Colombia tambien gano el certamen de belleza Miss Antilas en 1997.(Malena Lanz)

Los galardones especiales fueron para : Miss Amistad (Cayman Islands ); Miss Elegancia (Curacao), ay Miss Fotogenia (Brazil) mejor Traje Tipico (Northern Marianas Islans) Miss Silueta (Barbados) Mejor Traje de Noche (Northern Marianas Islands) y mejor entrevista (Colombia). 18 participantes tomaron parte en el concurso ahora en su edicion 13ra.


El evento se realizara el proximo aņo en Caracas, Venezuela

The 2003 edition of the Miss Antilles International beauty pageant took place at the Ateneo in Rio Chico (Venezuela) on october 18th. The winner was Miss Colombia, Maria Alejandra Oviedo, a 5'10" beauty who aced the competition with her extraordinary presence. Hosted by Peter Ponce.


After a brief presentation in National Costumes, swimsuit, a dance number and evening gowns, the top 10 delegates were called on stage, who were the delegates from:,Honduras Cayman Islands,Anguilla,Barbados,Brazil,Colombia, Northern Marianas,Dominican Republic Puerto Rico and Venezuela . These contestants presented an Interview section and then the top six were called on stage Honduras,Cayman Islands,Brazil,Northern Marianas Islands,Colombia And Miss Dominican Republic.They were then interviewed in a one on one basis (like in Miss Universe). After last year's winner Maury Guanchez of Mexico talked about her year as Miss Antilles 2002, the winner and finalists were directly taken out of the top 6: 3rd runner-up, Brazil; 2nd runner-up, Northern Marianas Islands; 1st runner-up, Dominican Republic; and the winner of this year's event, Miss Colombia, who seemed visibly happy. Colombia also won the Miss Antilles Beauty contest in 1997.Special Awards included Miss Amity (Cayman Islands ); Miss Elegance (Curacao), and Miss Photogenic (Brazil) Best Costume (Northern Marianas Islans) Miss Silhoutte (Barbados) Best Evening Gown (Northern Marianas Islands) and Best Interview (Colombia). 18 contestants took part in the contest, now on its 13th edition.


The pageant will be held next year in Caracas, Venezuela.
