Thanks a million for the info, Shelly - the ISPCA would be a good place to start for an adult dog. But do you reckon an adult dobermann can get used to you and your close ones? I heard it's best to have them grow up with the family?

I have gotten and know many people that have gotten adult dogs. Frankly I prefer getting older dogs as they are a given. With a puppy you have no real way of knowing what qualities you are getting but with an adult you do and they bond quickly and are a joy.
