Subject: Phoenix Hotel, Lexington, and the crashed plane on Lexington Rd in Louisville

From what I can remember, the Phoenix Hotel in Lexington was torn down to make way for a 50 story world trade center (or coal industry or other financial building, whatever it was was supposed to be 50 stories tall). I remember there were construction walls up around the entire block for years, the basement area was excavated (which is why the park kinda dips in elevation in the middle), but for some reason the building never got farther than that. So eventually they gave up and built the park and library several years later.

Another totally unrelated item you might want to have on here is there's a small airplane that looks like it crashed on the side of a hill, behind Distillery Commons & Headliners Music Hall on Lexington Road in Louisville. If I'd found this site earlier in the day, I'd have taken a picture, since I work at Distillery Commons. Someone here at the office knows the story behind it...
