I'm sorry, but you people are nuts! Yes, she may be her mother, and, yes, the daughter may only be 11 years old - but the child still has free will! It may not seem like much of a right to an adult, but children have the freedom of opinion as well. I believe what Ted suggested and those other mothers did was wrong! Yes, I had boyishly short hair in Kindergarten and I am about to get it cut that short or shorter again in the next week. My parents tried to PERSUADE me to keep it long. But in the end, I still went with what -I- thought was best. I haven't regretted my decisions yet. What you people are doing by forcing your daughters or sons to get hairstyles of your choice is limiting their freedom of expression! If a girl loves long hair, why take that love away? If a boy wants a little bit longer hair than is normal, why take that dream away? Don't force your kids to do stuff - persuade them instead. Most of my life lately has been nothing but my dad forcing his opinion on me and it made me quite a miserable person to hang around with at school. Now, I've moved out from his house and moved back in with my mom. I'm making decisions for myself again - and I'm a much more enjoyable, happy, and self-confident person. And choosing my own hairstyle(s) is one of those better decisions I've made in the past few months.
