The dance instructor should know when you are ready for pointe, by the strength in the ankles and legs. You have to be able to have a sturdy balance in releve and you have to be pulled up and strong. As for better beginner pointe shoes then other, I would definately start off with Bloch or Chaccott Veronese first. They are better for beginners.
