Subject: Why the need for ADCRG's?

In light of recent indicators that there are no set guidelines or rules for adjudicating, why not let the TCRG's judge? They can offer an educated opinion just as well as the current practice. If you can teach it, you should be able to render an opinion. Or would you rather maintain the present system and set some clear guidelines to lessen the wide variations in marks?

It appears to me that without guidelines and with the current alliances, TCRG's should be allowed to judge. It would certainly take the power away from the dishonest system we have in place now. I think though, that it is a clear conflict of interest to have a school and be an adjudicator also. I would like to see a system with guidelines and ADCRG's who are just that and have no school to trade favors with. Also, I would like to see an overseer appointed who would monitor these ADCRG's for any obvious discrepencies.

I think it would be a very good idea to introduce some very definite guidelines for judges to follow. At present it is all very subjective with the allowance for personal taste/perfrence towards eg a particular style of dance etc.
Whatever is done, it should be for Irish Dance worldwide, not just altered in one country and not in others.

Not only do we need standards and guidelines for the ADCRG's to follow, we need an outside independent tabulator also. I know of a Mid-West TCRG., who always has the results before anyone else, even before the third round is danced. At the major competitions like the Oireachtas, Nationals and World's we have teachers collecting results and transferring them to the tabulations room. Are any changes being made? Who is entering? Without anyone to oversee this process, it leaves a huge avenue for the less than honest to operate.

Geez, I never thought of that but you are right on. I have seen this at my own Oireachtas. How is this paragon from the Mid-West able to get the results? Aren't there other TCRG's there that would like to know also? I always assumed that someone was making sure everything was on the up and up. They certainly make it easy for the cheaters, don't they. You know though after having read alot of the message boards lately, it seems that some believe the rules are meant for others and not themselves. What good are the rules if no one is making sure they are followed?

Knowing results doesnt change results. Your statement about knowing befor the competition is finished is an outright lie. You are not the type of person Irish Dance needs.

The cheaters in I.D. have their work done befor they ever get to the feis. But they're slowly being weeded out.

Why don't all T.C.R.G.'s have great dancers? Because most of them don't know what to look for!!! If you can't spot it week after week in your own class, how can you see it on stage in about 90 sec.??
