Subject: what are good shoes for beginners?

I'm a beginner and was wondering on shoe choice and how the sizes run in that choice. I'm taking irish dance for fun. I started in character shoes but they hurt my feet and make my calves tense. We do mostly jigs and hard shoe..some soft shoe and I dont really want to buy 2 diff kinds of shoes. any suggestions? trstaf@aol.com
