Subject: California Museum of Science and Industry Facade Restoration

In 1995, I had the privilege of restoring the historic facade of the CMSI, all remaining elements facing the Rose Garden, my firm was Design Aid Architects, www.archiplanet.org. Images of the restored facade have been submitted to the USC School of Architecture Alumni Exhibit, Architectural Guild's 50th Anniversary Gala, scheduled 30 October 2008. Previous to the opportunity to restore the CMSI facade, I was President of the Society of Architectural Historians/Southern California Chapter, which initiated a legal injunction to halt demolition of the remaining elements of the historic structure. The SAH/SCC successfully pointed out in Court that funding for demolition was improperly interpreted for use out of State Bond monies explicitly defined for use to "Rehabilitate" the historic structures of Exposition Park, not for demolition and construction of new building!
