Subject: ARROW ON THE MOEBIUS BAND

My father designed and built (and repaired) the motor control circuitry that powered the arrow on the Moebius Band. Late at night, after closing and after his own work, he would take a few of his children down to the museum and work on the arrow electronics (I was lucky enough to be one of them and never missed a chance to go). He was a gifted electronics engineer and worked for MCulloch Motors accumulating quite a few patents during his career.

We had the run of the place after hours, and after my dad's lecture on the respect and care for the place we wandered in silence and amazement. My memory is full of those hours.

Later we lived next to a professor of mathematics (who specialized in topology). I always bragged to him, that my dad, with his GED, and talents, had built the arrow on the Moebius Band in Mathematica at the Museum of Science and Industry.

Los Angeles was full of very talented technical people in those days. A truly magical place.
