At least he knew better than to try and hide anything regarding himself from her. He'd have to pull her aside later and talk to her. She had to know what Edlen had been like when Des had left, aven after he'd returned and the girl had still been away. He could paint it to sould as though the boy had lost his only friend, his life long friend. And in truth, he had. So there was no lie in it.
