Hello Toot !
I haven't heard anything new about Napster in the last few days, but their court date is near, if not in progress now.
I would not count them out, however. They have about as good an argument as does the recording industry. It just depends on which way "Big Brother" leans.
I cannot see how they could prove that Napster is violating any copyright laws, since they do not provide any copyrighted material to anyone. - The Record companies might have a case against individuals, but I can't see them filing millions of complaints. (The way the justice system works, this would take 100 years).
In the meantime Napster is enjoying a HUGE influx of users.
They have over 100 servers, and when I used to log on, there might be 300,000 songs avalible on a particular server. - Lately, several servers have exceeded 1,000,000 songs avalible.
I think the Recording Industry (Which has been ripping off the public for years via Price-fixing), has defeated it's own purpose, by bringing the idea of trading music files via computer to the public's attention. It has so much momentum now, that iy will never stop, regardless what happens to Napster. - In fact there are several Napster Clones online now, and they cannot stop them all (Not even Me).
Keep tuned. - I will be making some changes here as I get time.
