don't get me wrong, i never said you guys suck. i was just trying to add some creative help. i am always the guy who champions the underdog, as bands go. i was only using ye wiles as a reference point, because they are a musical common ground for the tunbridge wells area. in case u think i am just out to slag you guys off, i am most definitely not. the whole 'paying£15for3hourspracticewhenyouhaveloadsofschoolstufftodoandnotthemoneyandtryingtodowhatyouloveandhavingtopayforitlots'thing is a familiar thing for me, cos i am there myself. i was offering support as opposed to slapping you down. i wanna see the bands from the tunbridge wells area supporting each other. the bands from here are very talented, and to have any kind of rivalry between them is just crazy. in fact, to set the record straight, i have seen you guys play many times. i know you have not been together that long and the level of commitment you have is most commendable. just remember that you are doing what you do for a good time and getting kicks for yourself. when we play and practice, we only stick with the songs that turn us on when we play. i dunno if that makes sense to you, but if you don't get off on what you're playing, then no-one else will. it's the whole 'makingthehaironthebackofyourneckstandonend'thing. as a band, we all hang out together outside of practices, and we all ride, so we hang out at the blocks and just have fun as a band. it's the best way to be. i was most definitely not slagging you off. i never said you suck. on the contrary. i want to see you guys achieve your full potential, of which there is lots. i would have thought that you would've wanted that too. you seem committed to what you wanna do. it's a case of getting out there and giving it your all. give it 110% when you play. if you aren't dripping with sweat and about to collapse on that minging brown sofa backstage then you didn't give it your all. if you missed it, i said that as ska goes, you are well on the way, and for a band that has only been together since february, that's amazing. ska is so tricky to play and play well, that you're gonna do well. my band plays a mix of ska and punk, with a little hardcore too- think leftover crack meets rancid on a dark night in a pitched battle with millencolin. as with ye wiles, would you have understood if i'd drawn references to juthro tull, graham coxon, boy hits car, elo, kite flying society, or someone like that? i wasn't saying 'be ye wiles', i was saying look at what they do that no-one else does, and find your own unique stamp to put on things. i was offering ideas that perhaps you had overlooked. if you don't want any suggestions, then fine. and don't blank bands that offer you encouragement after you've finished playing your set. it does you no favours. i only tried to help. if you don't think you need any suggestions, then fuck it. it always helps to have an outsider's view on what you do. we would be in a terrible place without that. at the end of the day, in my band, we don't give a fuck about people who slag us off, but we do care about those that try and help. maybe you should look at your attitude towards others.
I NEVER SAID YOU SUCK.
look at other local bands for support. it can only help your cause.
