I was the only child of Aryah Bluesword and Targon Whitecloak. My eyes were a sparkling sky blue and my fur was a pearly blonde color. My name, is Sharina Anirahs Princess of the Southern Shores. But, now-a-days, it is dangerous to mention that to anybeast. In my life, there have been many tragedies, but none broke my heart more than the one that started my bad luck.
It was the day I turned 8 seasons old. In my tribe, that is when you are deemed worthy or unworthy to receive the sword that was made for you on the day of your birth. I was excited. I rushed to put on my faded blue colored tunic and tied my favorite rope belt around my waist. Everything went as it should that day. There was a feast to honor us children who were getting our swords today. The food was splendid! But the most splendid thing of all, were the swords, all standing on their ends in a stand in the middle of the table. It was easy to spot mine. The hilt was of pure silver with two pommel stones in it. The one nearest the blade was an opal cut in the shape of a lily; the other was a diamond in the shape of a crescent moon. There was also a stone set into the blade close to the hilt. A Cerulean blue one, shaped like a tear-drop. I thought my sword was the most beautiful of them all.
Then, was the tests to judge us worthy. We were each given our swords and started off at different entrances of a maze. There were four of us: Terra, Bakura, Kent and me. Everything was going well when there was a scream from where we had left fifteen minutes ago. My reflexes were good and I hid behind the nearest curve. I peered around the corner and saw a big sea rat walking through the maze. He was the biggest, dirtiest rat I had ever seen! And that's saying something as I had seen many big evil rats before now. I knew what to do. As the rat drew closer, I braced myself to swing my sword. The rat rounded the corner. I swung at his neck, killing him with one strike. I wiped the blade on the ground and climbed up eh wall to see what was going on. I saw everyone tied up and sitting in a circle. My parents and their generals were standing of to the side. I knew it was my job, along with Terra, Bakura and Kent, to save our tribe. Bakura and Terra were passing just now, and I hollered their names, calling them over to me. They came over, panting and gasping out a story. Apparently some rats had ambushed them just as they met up with each other and Kent. Terra and Bakura had managed to escape, but Kent had been killed. Terra presented me with his sword, sheath and sword belt, all much like mine, except it had one pommel stone, a jade colored one shaped like a leaf, and a stone in the blade near the hilt, a ruby shaped like a drop of blood. I looped the belt with the sheath and the sword around my shoulders and now had two belts crossing: one with my sword and one to remind me of my friend Kent who gave his life. I helped Terra and Bakura up with me and we ran along the wall to our tribe.
We leapt recklessly into the rats, swords out, screaming our war cry. We hacked at the rats, but they were to much for us, and we were taken down as easily as little kids. They tied me up separated from Terra and Bakura. Our swords were taken from us.
The leader of the rats seamed to know me. as he walked up to me, sticking his face right up close to mine. His breath smelled really bad. He smiled wickedly at me and said, "So Sharina, we meet again, though you were just a baby when you cut off my paw." He raised his hooked paw up to my face, twirling a knife with it. He smiled at my ignorance and turned towards my parents, saying "Well, now it's my turn to inflict damage on your life, but in a different way."
I realized what he was going to do and struggled as hard as I could, screaming at the top of my lungs for him to stop, but to no avail. He killed both my parents and my unborn sibling, pushing them over the cliff and into the sea. I struggled, screamed that I would kill him. But he just smiled and said "I think I'm going to kill you." and he stabbed me in the side with my sword and the other side with My dad's sword. Both times I screamed with pain. He looped some more rope around me, leaving a long piece of it unraveled, and pushed me over the cliff.
Down, down, down I went until I stopped. The rope had held! I hung there many hours, panting for breath. Finally, I started singing a lullaby my mom had taught me.
When daytime turns to night.
When the moon shines bright.
When you're tucked in tight.
When everything's all right.
Slip softly to that place,
Where hidden thoughts run free.
And there come face to face,
With who you want to be.
So, swim across the ocean blue.
Fly a bird up to the moon.
You can change your life.
Or you can change the world.
Take a chance.
Don't be afraid.
Life, is your's to live.
Take a chance.
And then the best is yet to come.
Make a wish.
It's up to you.
Find the strength inside.
Then watch your dreams come true.
You don't need a shooting star.
The magic's right there in your heart.
Close your eyes.
Believe.
And make a wish.
Suddenly, the rope fell over the edge of the cliff with a boulder tied to it. I hit the water and sunk, down... down... down... down...
