He is mostly brown, with his throat, chin, and neck fleck with white, a unique characteristic of the sub-species of otters he belongs to. He and his family were part of a large clan of five score of otters (100), which was located far north-northwest of Redwall. He had a mother, a father, and a little sister and they were very happy. Neko also had an uncle living there. His uncle, Awruce, was rather small and weak as otters came. He was hardly noticed, especially in the shadow of his stronger brother Daarzohk, Neko's father. Daarzohk was a well liked otter, and one of the stronger in the clan. It wasn't that Awruce was disliked, it was that Daarzohk was liked even more so that it felt that he was hated. Although Daarzohk was very strong as otters go, he did have one weakness, his love for cyprinids, a rare kind of fish. Awruce wanted to get rid of his brother and had an evil plot. He trick Daarzohk into thinking that he had found a place with many cyprinids, and yet the cruel truth was that there was a great pike inhabiting the waters. When Daarzohk had realized it was a trap, he was overcome with a terrible fury at his brother and fiercly killed the pike. Knowing that he and his family were no longer safe at their home, Daarzohk returned and quickly gathered up all he might need and took his family: his wife Jamek and their children, Neko and Parra. Daarzohk's injuries were rather gruesome, yet he had to get away from his murdurous brother so he immediatly set out for Redwall. The children were very young at the time and have no memory of it. When the family reached Redwall Daarzohk's wounds were attended to and he ended up fine. Neko and Parra grew a bit older and were able to wreak havoc with fellow Dibbuns. Young Neko met two best friends there; Akaidar, a goshawk, and Aabjek, a mole. Today, Neko still wreaks havoc among the elders and his alive and well. His family is doing well too.
