I was born in the dead of winter.My Mother and Father were slaves,the slaver's name was Wiptail!After I was born Wiptail drove my mother hard,she died the next day.Father always used to stare hard at Wiptail and murmur"One day you'll regret the day you killed her!"Then one day Father was gone!Wiptail searched high and low for him,but he never found Father.A motherly widowed vole took me under her wing.A few seasons later in the dead of night, Father returned bringing twenty otters with him.They attacked the slavers.Father fought Wiptail by himself.In the end he killed Wiptail,but suffered a great wound.I took care of him but it was not enough.Father died the next season.His last words to me were "Make your Father proud Thyme."After that the vole took me to Redwall where I have lived ever since.
