First, how I look:
I am a tall haremaid. My fur is the colour of sand (from my mater's side), but my ears are a rusty red (my pater was all that colour). My keen eyes are a blue-green colour. I usually wear a burgendy tunic with a silver cord. The weapons I carry are a sling and a sabre.
Now, my story:
My pater's name is Jacsprint Deerfleet. He, and his dad, and his dad, and his dad, and his dad... had all been wanderers. It had always been that way. His best friend was an otter named Rudford Brookstream. They were very close (that's why you might hear me say "matey" or some other otter-like things once in a while).
My mum's name is Sage. She lives at Salamandastron. She and her companions were on a patrol, when they met up with Rudford and Jacsprint. They, now strapping young fellows, had left their homes to be wanderers like their forebears. Jacsprint took an immidiate liking to Sage, although she treated him like a silly leveret. Rudford, on the other hand, found himself a wife whose family lived in the cliffside. Her name was Shoreflower. Eventually, Sage grew to love Jacsprint, and Jacsprint grew to love Sage, more and more with each passing day. Jacsprint gave up his life as a wanderer to serve the badger lord at Salamandastron, and to be with Sage. Then, an otter and a hare were born. Sealily Brookstream and me: Jacris Deerfleet. We were the very best of friends.
When Sealily and I were but a few seasons old, a vermin horde attacked Salamandastron. There was constant fighting for days. My mum was injured badly, but she survived. Dad fussed over her any spare moment he had. Then, it happened. A group of hares, looking for the remains of their fallen comrades, discovered the body of a small ottermaid- Sealily. Rudford and Shoreflower were nowhere to be found. Jacsprint and Sage mourned the loss of their close friends for the longest time. I didn't know what had happened. I asked my mother where Sealily was many times. This made her cry, so I stopped.
When the worst of their mourning was over, my parents held a whispered conference. I tried to overhear, but I only caught bits and pieces like:
"It's not safe anymore..."
"...After what happened..."
"...the abbey...".
It confused me a lot, but I soon forgot and drifted off to sleep in front of the door.
The next morning, my dad took me, and we snuck off to the east. I was very confused about the whole matter, but I did what my father said. After a few days, we arrived at a great sandstone building. Jacsprint handed me to a badger who called herself Mother Mellus. Then, he left. He didn't come back.
In the weeks that followed, I joined Dibbuns Against Bedtime, and made a whole lot of new pals. They are all very kind to me here, although I still wonder about my parents. Is the battle still on? Are my parents alright? What happened to Sealily? One day, I will return to the mountain, Salamandastron, and find the answers to all my questions.
