I don't know where I was born, but the Abbot Mordalfus once told me I wandered up to the blinkin' Abbey one cold Winter evening, going south down the path from the north, an orphan begging to be let in. If you ask me, I find that rather spiffin', beginning my life at the Abbey about the same way the jolly ol' warrior Matthias did. I eventually settled into the Abbey life. When I was about 6 seasons old, I had become good friends with Basil Stag Hare (a jolly good role model, wot wot!) and learned to eat and speak like him. I also became friends with Mattimeo the son of the current Abbey Warrior, Matthias (another jolly good role model, though I never acted as him directly, him being my friend's father and all). Then, at about 11 seasons, I ran away, seeking the mountain to the west called Salamandastron. I suppose coming from the north I had some fighter's blood in me. The only thing I carried was a haversack of food and drink and a quarterstaff. The quarterstaff also doubled as a good walking stick. I stumbled upon a vermin camp along the way to Salamandastron. I raided their supplies and took a dagger, a bow, and a quiverful of arrows. I then continued my journey to Salamandastron. I had arrived at Salamandastron just in time before winter started. I don't recall the name of the current Badger Lord, though. I then became settled into the life of Salamandastron. I became a member of the honorary Long Patrol at about 13 seasons, also the first beast other than a hare to become one. I still go with the Long Patrol to this day, dropping by the Abbey occasionally under the order of the Major and for the honest-to-goodness absoballylutely good tucker.
