I don't remember my mum or my dad. I grew up by myself. I say my name is Farranore because that is what I called myself. I was taken in by an old otter who called me Buta, but I never liked that name. Whe he died, I did my best to bury him and continued to live in the holt. I could swim as well as any otter, and so I lived off of fish and fruit from nearby trees. I was okay until the vermin came.

A band of weasels took me from my holt. But I wasn't badly treated at first. The leader, Rimist, was an okay sort, and she took care of me. But then she was stabbed in the back one night, and my life became a living hell. Many times I tried to run away, but I was brought back and beaten each time. I was finally rescued when a patrol of hares defeated the vermin band and took me to Redwall. I was three seasons old then. I have lived mischievously happy at Redwall ever since. Cheerio!
