Almost for as long as I can remember I have lived at redwall. But it was not always so. When i was just a sweet little otterkit, we lived far far away. You see we are sea otters by origin, and my father was a fisherbeast. We lived in a cosy little holt, on the shore of the great sea, not a days march from the mountin stronghold, sallimgiston!!!!(or summat like that!) Any way mates, its a tragic tale. Me dad took me out for the first time on his magnificent little ship, 'safe berth' I was really, exited about my first ever sailing trip! but it was not to be, as we were cutting the mooring rope, a band of desperate sea rats came charging towards us being persued by a regiment of hares from sallithingy. Now my father was not a coward! He lept forward, rapeir in hand, to subdue the rats... to save me. I saw him cut down before my very eyes. I had no time to dwell on my loss however, as next, i was seized by a rather fat rat who grabbed me by the rudder. I twisted free, biting his paw as I went 'you little bilgewretch, i'll have you for that!' he swung his cutlass down , but i was too quick for him i lunged forward and valted over the railings. But as i hit the water i realised i had not been quite quick enough, the rat hat severed off the end of my rudder! I swam for shore as hard as possible, but with half a tail thats not an easy task, I think I would have drowned if a hare hadn't of plucked me clear of the water.
Next thing i remember i woke up in the back of a jolting carriage, with my weeping mother holding my new baby bruvva truecreak, named after my father. I'm not sure if she was weeping for sadness or joy, or both.
I looked over the edge of the carriage,at the bumpy track below, I then raised my gaze and the most beautiful amazing sight met my eyes...REDWALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
