Her mother was Honorable Rosemary and her father was Brigadier Thyme.She was kidnapped as a young dibbon by Splayfoot the weasel. Mariel came to rescue her to find out that she had already escaped. She was found and adopted by Maila Hareshoresman and Bligdale Hareshoresman. Mariel found thier cave dwelling and took Shendra and her new family back to Redwall were the Thymes and the Hareshoresman became great friends.
