Hi, My name is Terra. I'm an old friend of Sharina's. You want to know about her life? I'm afraid I can only provide a small portion of it, but I can certainly give you some info.
Sharina was born in the same season as I was, but she was about thirty days younger than I was. She was born with sky blue eyes and a pearly white-blonde colored fur, just like her mother. Everyone thought she was going to be like her mother, soft and gentle, when she grew up too, until that night, a season after her birth.
A pack of rats led by a huge, dirty, male rat attacked in the middle of the night. Our fathers went out to fight while us young ones were told to stay inside with our mothers. Somehow, Sharina got outside with one of the cook's kitchen knifes and, just as the leader of the pack was about to kill her father, as I've heard at least, she leapt at him, biting his neck and cutting off his right paw. Because of that, the fighters were able to run the rats out of town and everyone then knew that Sharina was going to turn out like her father, strong, determined and a warrior.
There was peace for the longest time. Sharina and I became the best of friends, along with two other mice born in the same season as us, Bakura and Kent. We trained together, played together and were going to take the test together when the time came. We were the best of friends. We thought we would never part. But, then that day came.
Sharina's mother, Aryah Bluesword*, was expecting a baby soon. Sharina and I were excited. So was the rest of the tribe. On that day, we dressed in our new tunics. Sharina dressed in a muddy brown colored one with a rope belt, Bakura dressed in a light green tunic with a rope belt, Kent dressed in a dark green one with a rope belt and I dressed in a sandy brown one with a rope belt. We would receive our swords and sword belts during the ceremony. Sharina and I got up early for two reasons: to practice for our tests and to be up incase her mother needed our help. I could see Sharina was concentrating more on listening for her mother than she was in practicing, so I went easy on her.
Later, we went to the feast. There was so much food! Tarts, pies, soups, salads, fruits, and other foods I can't remember. What I can remember most, are the drinks that my family brewed for that occasion. Season old ales, fizzy cordials, cold beers and others too numerous to mention. The most beautiful and amazing thing, though, was the four swords standing in the middle of the main table. I found Sharina staring at the swords just before the feast started.
"The swords are beautiful, aren't they?" I asked her.
She jumped and turned around. When she saw it was me, she smiled and turned back to the swords.
"Yeah, they are beautiful. The way they are each made differently." She said in her soft, naturally quiet voice.
"I like the way mine is made," I said. "with the thin, red lines twisting together to form designs on the hilt. And the red stone at the end of the golden hilt. It makes it unique."
"Yeah, I like the way mine's made, with the silver hilt and the two pommel stones, the opal shaped like a lily and the diamond shaped like a crescent moon. And the blue tear shaped stone set into the blade near the hilt. That's pretty unique."
"Sure is, but I like mine the best."
Sharina and I jumped and looked around to see Bakura and Kent walking up to us.
"Yours is pretty cool Bakura. Plain silver hilt with the blue pommel stone." I said, glancing at Sharina who was gazing at her sword.
"Come on." Kent said, putting an arm around Sharina's shoulders. "Let's go to the feast. They can't start without us."
"You're right. Let's go Sharina." I said. "We'll see the swords later."
Sharina smiled. "I know, but I feel like I'm going to be through a lot with this sword."
The feast was awesome. There were acrobats, a magician and Sharina, Bakura, Kent and I did our thing too. We sang a son we found in the recorder's study called My Best Friends. Sharina had the main part because she had the best voice of the four of us. Then, after the feast ended, it was time for us to take our tests.
First, was sparing with the best fighter in our tribe, which was my older brother, Kyle. Bakura and I were squished, even though we had our new swords. Sharina and Kent, however, beat Kyle. It was cool how they were able to beat my brother so quickly.
There were many other tests I can't remember, but I can't forget the final one. We all had to make it to the center of the maze to receive the medallions that would symbolize our position in the tribe. Each of ours would have a bobcat on one side and a goblet on the other. We would have to work alone to get to the middle, as we were each getting to the center from a different opening.
I was about half way to the center when I heard a commotion on the other side of the hedge. I unsheathed my sword and hacked through the hedge to find Kent fighting a group of rats. I joined in on the fight and soon after, Bakura did too. We were able to kill the rats, but they fatally wounded Kent near his heart. Bakura and I helped him along to the end of the maze where we found Sharina already standing. The shock she felt at the sight of us was apparent.
"What happened to you guys?" she asked.
"Kent was attacked by rats." Bakura, who was in the best shape of the three of us, gasped out. "Terra got to him first, but they had already given him a fatal wound."
Sharina knelt down beside Kent and saw where the rats had stabbed him. She was about to tear a strip from her tunic when Kent put a paw on her paw.
"Leave it Sharina. Let's just do what we were going to do whatever happened." Kent rasped.
Sharina bit her lip, nodded and went to the table in the middle of the maze. She picked up the four medallions and brought them over, handing them out to Kent, Bakura and me. Together, we placed the medallions around our necks, just as we had planed.
Kent then unbuckled his sword belt and handed it to Sharina along with the sword. It had a golden hilt with a jade pommel stone and a red blood drop shaped stone set into the blade near the hilt.
"Take it." he said. "And give this to my mom." he said, giving his medallion to Sharina.
She nodded, tears rolling down her cheeks as he leaned up and whispered something to her. As she leaned back, Sharina smiled through her tears and nodded, why, I don't know.
Kent smiled, closed his eyes and leaned back, his last words were, "You guys are my best friends. I'll always be with you."
We buried him right there in the middle of the maze and marked it with a rock we found under the table. Then Sharina, Bakura and I headed out of the maze only to be met with a horde of rats. They pounced us; we gave a good fight, actually killing some before they tied us up.
Bakura and I were separated from Sharina. Our swords lay in the middle of the ring that had been formed.
A big rat came out opposite Sharina. I figured he was the one that Sharina had beat eight seasons before, when she had save her father, as he had a hook on his right paw.
"So Sharina, we meet again," he said, holding his hooked paw up to her face."though you were just a baby when you cut off my paw. Well, now I'm back for revenge, and this time, you won't be able to stop me."
The rat turned towards her parents, unsheathing a knife. Sharina started screaming at him, though I can't remember what she said. With two swift strikes, the rat killed her parents. I was horrified. Sharina kept screaming stuff at the rat that I can't remember. All I remember about that moment was the rat picking up Sharina and Kent's swords, piercing Sharina with them, and then pushing her and her parents over the edge of the cliff.
Bakura and I shouted and grabbed the end of the rope she was tied to as best as we could, holding onto it for the longest time. And then, as night was falling, I heard Sharina's pure voice flowing up to Bakura and I, singing a lullaby that her mother used to sing to her. I joined in singing this song.
When daytime turns to night.
When the moon shines bright.
When you're tucked in tight.
When everything's all right.
Slip softly to that place,
Where hidden thoughts run free.
And there come face to face,
With who you want to be.
So, swim across the ocean blue.
Fly a bird up to the moon.
You can change your life.
Or you can change the world.
Take a chance.
Don't be afraid.
Life, is your's to live.
Take a chance.
And then the best is yet to come.
Make a wish.
It's up to you.
Find the strength inside.
Then watch your dreams come true.
You don't need a shooting star.
The magic's right there in your heart.
Close your eyes.
Believe.
And make a wish.
Suddenly, the rope slipped out of our paws and held taut, which surprised Bakura and I. We thought we might be able to save Sharina, but a rat pushed the rock that the rope was tied to over the cliff. I screamed Sharina's name and I heard Bakura do the same, but it didn't do much good. The last I saw of Sharina that day, was a glimpse of her as she hit the water before the rats wrestled Bakura and I back away from the cliff.

Bakura and I escaped that night using our swords and later, found out that Sharina was still alive. We found her later in her life, but that's another story for another day. You know a little about Sharina's history now. I don't know who knows the rest, but to find out more, you'll have to seek them out.
