Derble's real name, if you hadn't guessed, is Derbellious, but he prefers to be called Derble (partially because he likes the sound of "Derble" better, but mostly because he can hardly say "Derbellious"). He's relatively quiet for a Dibbun, but he can be quite a scamp when he wants to. He is the only child in his family, and was born at Redwall.
Derble is particular short, shorter than many of the other dibbuns, and has a rotund little stomach, the size of which few dibbuns can match. Still, his stubby little legs can carry him at fair speeds (more than fair, most beasts would say) if ever the need arises. He has dark brown fur and wide, round, innocent grey eyes. He wears a faded blue smock (faded because his mother has to wash it so many times), and he wears nothing but his faded blue smocks, because he thinks they're lucky. He and his trusty little leather sling his father fashioned for him are inseperable; Derble is hardly seen without it, and he's a crack shot.
So once again I say, though Derble is generally quiet and polite to his elders, he can be be a veritable pest once he gets going or is around his best friends. Please, take my advice, you don't want to get him going! Cheeky ballads are his specialty, which he'll sing uproariously for hours unless you can find some way to make him stop. As of yet, no one is quite sure what will shut him up, so it's best if you just don't let it happen in the first place.
