I was born in Rudderwake to Fleet River and Sling Rose. I was the first cousin of Grath Longfetch's daughter Wave Blossom. We were a big happy family swimming, having water fights and making hot root soup. My father traveled far and wide to trade the rare seashells of Rudderwake for Redwall's finest foods. I loved it when father brought home candied chestnuts and strawberry cordial for me and my siblings.

My father wanted to teach each of us to handle the boat as well as he did. He took my brothers out on the sea. My brothers loved it and I was very jealous. I was supposed to stay home and learn to cook and clean with my mom. But my brothers always found ways to spring me from the chores, so that we could all have water fights. I loved my family very much.

One day my father decided it was time for the males to all go to trade the seashells and were attacked by Sea Rats who were hiding offshore in their vessel, Bloodwake. Their leader One Eye had my father and brothers slain so that they could steal the cargo.

When the sad news came to mom and me that our family had perished, she was devastated. She didn't want to eat or sleep. I tried my best through my sorrow to cheer her up but I couldn't. Finally, Wave Blossom convinced my mother that she needed to find a better life for me. So we traveled to Redwall Abbey. I was scared when I first came, but the dibbuns soon invited me to join DAB. My mother found friends too and we have lived here ever since.
