i find it funny and doubt it will happen, gave me a good laugh, i kinda hope it does happen though, iv been blammed there so many times for just about nothing, its pathetic, magma is thinking hard about setting up their server if pmnet goes down, the features they plan to have included sound pretty awesome:

Jeebus -afk: mnet had what seems to be a hdd melt down, box is being shipped to wang, he will attempt to recover all the data (basically all the accounts)
Jeebus -afk: worst case scenario, accounts will have to be remade
Jeebus -afk: cphl, and mnet will be hosted on a static ip, residential account, again, not ideal, but adequate
Jeebus -afk: there is the possibility that conner will host it on his gf's residential account (non static ip, but we can work around that)
Jeebus -afk: he's willing to keep mnet running, but doesn't want to admin it
Jeebus -afk: he would be looking for help with regards to website maintenaince, and metaserver administration
Jeebus -afk: also, ranked could be a major issue
Jeebus -afk: lots of little things that need to be done and he doesn't think it can happen in time
Jeebus -afk: PPE has been conner's partner in crime, but lately PPE has been too busy to be very involved
Jeebus -afk: there may be space for magma to take over that role (particularly as it applies to stat processing and ranked implementation)
Jeebus -afk: so basically, worst case scenario, things will be ok. The question is, is ok good enough?

Jeebus -afk: we also have the open sourced meta server code released by bungie, and have a working meta server running on our machine

Hey Everyone;

Sadly - it's come to this. Neither Alan, Bloo or I really have the time, or intestinal fortitude to deal with this anymore. The amount of stuff that unpaid administrators and other volunteers have to deal with has become so much and people have become so abusive toward the people who give their time to give you a place to play that we've decided that we're done doing it.

You - the users of PlayMyth.net - are thereby formally notified that PlayMyth.net will close on August 1, 2005 unless there is a dramatic change in the atmosphere and level of respect toward administrators and other players.

You've been warned - the bullshit is over. Take responsibility and pride in the place you like to play or it will soon be gone. I'm in a unique position in that I have physical access to the power cord of this server - and I'm tired of it being the waste of electrons that it has become.

So fix it - or it's gone.
