The reason why Pyrethrum exports from PNG have stopped is due to the fact that the chemical extracted from the flowers which is called Pyretin is actually produced in laboratories by mixing certain chemicals. This by product is actually used to produce insecticides. This process was far cheaper then the extraction process used at the PNG processing plant in Kiminiga.

I believe the MP's office has conducted feasibility studies to see if the market was still there but this will be one of those projects that will certainly struggle to fly.
