Members back bid to review watchdog
GOVERNMENT Ministers and MPs have called for the review of the Ombudsman Commission.
The call was made during debate following the Prime Minister, Sir Michael Somare’s, “matter of public importance” statement in Parliament yesterday.
Public Service Minister Peter O’Neill said the role of the Ombudsman Commission was now misdirected.
“Who keeps an eye on the Ombudsman Commission?” Mr O’Neill asked.
He said the commission is not subject to the rule of evidence and it was about time there is a review on the role of the organisation.
Deputy Prime Minister Dr Puka Temu also called for a review and recommended for the Speaker to bring amendments before Parliament.
Southern Highlands Governor Anderson Agiru, who faced the Leadership Tribunal before, said the Constitution gives people the right to vote for their leader, and the Leadership Code is in conflict with the Constitution.
New Ireland Governor Sir Julius Chan said he would support the Government on any moves to abolish the commission.
Others who spoke in favour of a review included Morobe Governor Luther Wenge, Eastern Highlands Governor Malcolm Kela-Smith and Rigo MP Ano Pala.

Ipatas comes out in support of watchdog
PNG is at the crossroads and the Ombudsman Commission and judiciary system are the only institutions holding the country together, Enga Governor Peter Ipatas said yesterday.
“We are at the crossroads now if we are not careful, this country will go” Mr Ipatas said during debate in Parliament.
Mr Ipatas said people have lost trust in their leaders and are now depending on the judiciary and the Ombudsman Commission.
“People are losing confidence in this Parliament. We should not derail or undermine the role of the Ombudsman Commission,” he said. “Let’s protect the institutions that are keeping this country together.”
Mr Ipatas said people on the streets are saying everything is falling apart and leaders are pretending that everything is okay.

at this point in time, two main things surfaced:
(i)enga provincial public service; by how much is it affordable and accessible by the local engan, by how much is it independently instituted and administered and by how much is the degree of transparency and accountability free from ipatas' politics which has been tearing apart and killing the divine fibres of Enga. I feel sick and worth the dust to let this happen, and (2)a flip-flopper; Engans, by divine fibres of his totality, do not do such. ipatas courted with national alliance, after elections, to destabilize a new face of a tip of iceberg of engan politics when abal and poyle teamed up. restrictively, his reference to current government, his crticisms not appropriate at that time.

pyschological and clinical intrepretations depict gradual deterioration of bodily biological deficiencies trigers mental failures. engans do not afford to be misjudged the mispells of such diseased man.

Arronpio,

Can you simplify your posting here for the laymen to at least understand. I really cannot get what you are trying to say. There is too much political jargon in your posting.

Confused..
