the websites present value of budgetary funds against main programme areas. thus, it would be quite preplexing initially to understand the main purposes of these programmes especially the objectives. further reading from some sources such as national fiscal commission and treasury (national) would be essential.

furthermore, the provincial government has its own budget document, giving specific provincial development priorities and objectives. this document is essential to provide more information into the financial operation of the provincial government given its provincial development priorities. this document should be made available to the public by the provincial government (provincial treasury).

am not sure which specific information you need and or should be made available publicly. (however, there are restrictions to some information due to secrecy and confidentiality provisions of some institutions)

Larsen,

Thank you so much for being very informative here. Your feedback is goood and very educational also. Thanks again for the explanations and I will go ahead and look into the areas you mentioned.

From my understanding most budgetary documents are supposed to be public documents and need be disclosed for the public audience's knowledge. I would apprecaite if there was someone in the province who took the time and took up responsibility to disclose information, particularly the provincial budgets, to the public domain.

legally, the provincial budget documents are public documents (when, i believe, are approved by the PNG Treasurer). the provincial government, in good spirit of transparency and accountability, should make this legally public document available. the process of desimination is a factor.
if the provincial government has a website, it should be hooked into it. or it should be made available upon public request.
the administration of this forum could help by informing the provincial government of such dicussion in relation to the budget document if possible, otherwise.

Thanks Larsen,

I only hope that someone within the provincial government ranks or an officer within the Ipatas administration is able to get online and access the internet or even better accessing this forum. Only then will they know what we would want to see and know.

Interested.
