Not law yet but Minister Garrett signalled intention last fortnight. China also intends similar laws [regulations]. It shall be world-wide in matter of few years. Nevertheless, bilums can be an alternative to plastic bags among other utensils. It makes sense, doesn't it?

Eventually plastic bags will be banned over time in Australia. As bilumsPNG stated Peter Garrett would like to legislate the ban of plastics. These plastic bags take 100 years to break down. Bunnings stores stopped using plastic bags for a few years now.

I have a few bilums that I use at the shops, they are great for small items, but not good for heavy items as the bags stretch too much with heavy stuff.
