Freddie, A Concise Critique of your Proposition:

In theory this sounds like a good idea but practically such a concept will be a waste of time and resources at this stage.

Here's why;

1. The bulk of the people in Enga are illiterate, they cannot and will not understand what CSC is trying to convey to them. They don't read newspapers because it is written in english. EM TV will report in english and tok pisin which the majority of Engans like people in Yengis, Maramuni, Laiagam and Kandepens etc will find it difficult to comprehend.

2. What is the gurantee that the members comprising the CSC will be incorriptible? As we know now in Enga and PNG, pig and money can convince anyone that you have leadership qualities. Any candidate can bribe a few of the CSC members and walk through the screening process. Oh, and the judge will only be one person in the CSC which means he has only one vote.

ALTERNATIVE:

EPG should have a group like this in place but its purpose must be to organise public informative forums in central locations throughout the province. Here the candidates can speak in our own ENGA language to the masses. Enga provincial government to meet the costs of intending candidates to travel to these areas and present their policies and reasons why the current government is not effective and why they are better than them.

Freddie do not despair, I like the idea behind your proposition here. Yes, we all need GOOD Engan leaders to take our province forward.

Thought I would revisit and for the sake of discussion, share my $0.02 here.

Your alternative solution sounds good. There are two factors prevailent in that solution which my proposed idea was to reduce:
1. The Cost Factor - Involved in sponsoring central gatherings by the EPG and additionally, too much money playing (bribing, or buying votes, etc.)
2. Enemy Targeting by preying tribes (though this may sound trivial during such occasions, its always a possibility)

I believe there is the factor of the EPG being influenced (to a degree, by any current government in power) as to whether or not these public informative forums be conducted either totally impartial from political affiliation, or never conducted at all. The degree of influence at such level is very possible indeed.
