The advantages are many. Immediate economic uplift through cooperation with Cuba, China and many of the rising Asian socialist nations plus those in Central and South America. It is a good way to thumb our noses at Australia and United States and tell the racists that we own ourselves and we are not slaves to imperialism. Reflect on the current trend of leadership and you know what i mean. Leaders who tend to dip both hands into the purse of the province or for that matter our country, will surely lick every toea from even your hardwork if communism is introduced. Take a look at Somare and his spoils. In order to get even with Australia for asking him to remove his shoes in Brisbane Airport, he assisted a child molester to escape punishment. If you think America and Australia a shoving their neo-colonial policies in Papua New Guinea, i think you are wrong, because Papua New Guinea is an Independent country and we dont need to open our legs for Australia and America to shove down our throats what policies we dont want. It depends on leaders to take drastic steps to make sure we attain economic and political independence. If we elect leaders who are asswipes who tend to lick other peoples shoes to get to the top without vision. I feel that leaders can become change agents if personal aspirations and dreams are put aside for the corporate good. No need to produce more Saddam Hussain or Bin Laden type tyrants.
